STARTRAILS
For this midyear I decided to step out of my comfort zone of photographing the small and unnoticed parts of life and decided to photograph the huge, some might say monumental forces of life that are often passed by and taken for granted. As a photographer I've always wanted to delve in landscape and astronomy photos but never actually got a chance to test either of them out. So i decided to fuse them both together to create a juxtaposition of the change and movement of the stars and the age and looming stillness of the silhouetted trees at night. See both the stars and trees in and of themselves are beautiful but when put together they are able to contrast each-other and accentuate each-others beauty. The stark, deep, and still trunks and branches of the twisted winter time trees relate the idea of age and wisdom and stillness of the night. The faint, beautiful, and bright Star trails we see add a whimsy and light spiritedness to the photographs. what might be dark and quite intimidating becomes magical and inviting as we become drawn in to the mystery and the wonder of these photos. Most of these photos were very experimental and while I might go as far to say they are not my strongest works They have sparked a new idea and I would love to pursue this photo series a little bit more to see what I can create, Maybe with film cameras or from different perspectives as-well. either way this project for me was less of an end all be all and more of a spring board to pursue this idea and technique further.
